The Resorters, 9-0, are the first team in school history to finish the regular season undefeated. Elkhart wrapped up the Great 8 South Division title a week earlier with a 6-0 mark – the Resorters’ first division title since they began eight-man football in 2012.

“This is a huge, huge accomplishment. It wasn’t an individual thing. Everyone contributed,” said Resorter head coach Barry Feldmann about the perfect season.

“Our No. 1 goals were to win the conference [division] and go undefeated. It’s very impressive to go undefeated. I’m very proud of the guys.”

The Resorters have qualified for the Eight-Man Football Jamboree which includes the topeight teams in the state. Elkhart will face the Luck Cardinals who are 7-2 overall and tied for second in the Lakeland Conference at 6-2.

The game is scheduled for Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. at Stiehm Stadium in Schofield.

Elkhart led Three Lakes only 6-0 after one quarter before erupting for 21 points in the second period to build a 26-0 halftime lead. In the second quarter, quarterback Elliot Van Oss threw touchdown passes of 21 and 20 yards to tight end Jordan Kissinger. Van Oss capped off the spurt in the quarter with a 48-yard TD scamper.

Kissinger, a linebacker on defense, returned a fumble 38 yards for a score in the third period. Van Oss had three TD passes in the game as he also connected for a 51-yard strike to tailback Trevor Rebedew for the team’s first score in the third quarter.

Elkhart rolled up 268 yards rushing, led by Van Oss with 83 on only three carries and tailback Jared Shaw with 76 on just seven attempts. Shaw had TD runs of 36 and 18 yards.

The Resorters’ defense, which recorded its third shutout this year, surrendered only 184 yards in total offense, including just 28 passing.

The Bluejays controlled the ball most of the first quarter but were stopped on downs at the Elkhart 2-yard line after a long, time-consuming drive. The Bluejays netted only one first down in the second half after gaining 10 in the first.

“It was absolutely a team effort [on offense and defense],” said Feldmann.

“Our outside guys on defense did a good job of containing them outside. Trevor Rebedew [senior linebacker] had an awesome performance. Nick Miller [interior lineman] and Owen Kalbacken [end/outside linebacker] played very well on defense.

“Our offense was efficient. The running game was awesome and set up the passing game.”

Feldmann thought the defense did a good job against a strong Bluejay running attack. Also recovering fumbles for the EL-G defense were Shaw, a back, and Andrew Sitkow, a linebacker.
