Third-seeded PHS, 25-18, advances to the semifinals Thursday, Oct. 23 at No. 2-seeded Campbellsport at 7 p.m. The Cougars defeated the Panthers in both of the teams’ Eastern Wisconsin Conference duals this year.

The PHS-Campbellsport winner will play the Sheboygan Falls- Chilton victor in the finals Saturday at 7 p.m. at the higher-seeded team’s gym.

“A really nice match for us to have at this time. We really passed well and that made all the difference,” said PHS head coach Peggy Huhn.

“We were able to run our offense with a lot of options and Mayville [No. 6 seed] had a hard time keeping up with that. Our offense was diverse in who Mary Albert chose to set as well as the options that our attackers took – mixing up with hard, driven attacks and nicely placed tips.”

Kathryn Aukerman spearheaded the Panthers’ attack with nine kills and Sophie Albert had eight. Megan Goeser led in solo blocks with two. Elizabeth Baus had a team-high eight digs.

Mary Albert paced PHS in assists with eight. The top servers were Sophie Albert with 18-for-18 and Elise Suttner, 15-for-15. Cara Bardon and Sophie Albert led in serve reception with 10-for-10 each.

“Cara Bardon had a really nice game in the back row with serve receive and her defense. I thought Kathryn and Sophie were forces in the front row,” said Huhn.

“It was nice to see everyone play loosely and without fear. We did an incredible job at the net. Megan Goeser really had some nice blocks and she has a huge block to make them hit around.

“Mayville really was not able to get their offense going because our net by both our middles was so sound,” added Huhn.
