SJL school, church pitch in to aid food pantry

The children of St. John Lutheran School are starting school and our renewed initiative with caring hearts, sharing food, and serving others by donating peanut butter and jelly to the Plymouth area Food Pantry.

Please stop by and see our food display that will grow in the Fellowship Hall. The classes are competing in a contest and all have passed the goal to bring in at least one item per child.

To add in this celebration, each family in the SJL congregation was asked to bring a box of cereal to the Fellowship Hall by Oct. 17.

Smaller groups within the church and school added to our food donation during this drive. The LWML is collecting canned vegetables, Mom’s bible study pasta and sauce, the Well-Seasoned Group soup, Junior Youth granola bars/school snacks, Senior Youth and Girl Scout troop 8961 macaroni and cheese, PTO crackers, School Board baby food, Tuesday a.m. Bible class canned fruit, school office skillet dinners, and 4H Juniors canned meats. During Octoberfest we also collected many nonperishable items.

The food pantry trailer will be hauling all food collected Wednesday, Oct. 29 after the school chapel service at 9:45 a.m. Please consider joining the kids in loading up.
