LeMahieu/Laning

To the Editor:

I have been watching with interest the race for the 9th Senate District. Martha Laning and her supporters continue to claim she has the ability to bring people together and that there are not Republican ideas or Democrat ideas, just good ideas.

Yet everything that I have seen in her mailings have been just the opposite. One of her mail pieces attempts to scare seniors, like myself, by twisting County Board votes. Another piece claims Devin LeMahieu doesn’t support equal pay for women by somehow linking him to state Sen. Glenn Grothman. Yet another piece called him a “career politician.” I guess that makes myself and the countless other local elected officials who give up our time for very little pay to serve our communities career politicians as well.

I have served alongside Devin on the Sheboygan County Board for the last seven years. He has worked tirelessly to control spending in local government, reduce taxes and provide highquality, efficient services to She- boygan County residents. He has consistently supported all areas of county government including road projects, law enforcement and health & human services to make sure the needs of the community are being met. Most importantly, he has led efforts to reduce property taxes making sure that all county residents (including seniors) can afford to stay in their homes and make sure young families can afford to purchase their first home.

The Laning attack ads have no place in politics and certainly not what I want to see out of my future senator. I am going to proudly cast my vote for Devin LeMahieu on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
