Panthers lose heartbreaker in regional semis

Tri-County News CAMPBELLSPORT – The Plymouth Panthers’ girls volleyball season came to an end Thursday night with a heartbreaking loss to host Campbellsport in five games in a Division 2 regional semifinal match.

The No. 2-seeded Cougars, who defeated PHS for the third time in three tries this season (twice in Eastern Wisconsin Conference play), rallied to win three straight games and earn the match victory, 16-25, 16-25, 25-17, 25- 20, 16-14.

The No. 2-seeded Panthers ended their season at 25-19.

Campbellsport, 30-13, lost at top-seeded Sheboygan Falls in the finals Saturday night, 23-25, 25- 12, 23-25, 20-25.

Mackenzie Ebert sparked the Cougars’ attack versus PHS with 22 kills. Brooke Birschbach had a team-high 26 digs. Leah Haebig led in assists with 43.
