EUGENIE MANTHEY

Eugenie Manthey, 83, of Sheboygan died Friday morning, Oct. 31, 2014, at the Azura Memory

Eugenie was born Aug. 3, 1930 in Germany, the daughter of Eugene and Paula (Schon) Stockinger. She immigrated to the United States and became a U.S. citizen Jan. 16, 1956.

On Jan. 21, 1959, she married Clarence Meyer. He preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1985.

She married Lawrence Manthey on Aug. 27, 1994, in Sheboygan Falls. He preceded her in death Oct. 27, 2012.

Eugenie worked for General Box Co. before her retirement.

She was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls and the D’Werdenfelser Schuhplattlers Folk Dancing Club.

She enjoyed cross-country skiing, painting, crafts, bird-watching, and cooking.

Eugenie is survived by two stepdaughters, Sandy (Pat) Finnerty of Middleton and Mary Lou Ellinghausen of New Berlin; a brother, Franzel (Gerlinde) Stockinger of Germany; nieces and nephews: Ramona Eisner of Menomonee Falls; Anthony (Teresa) Eisner and David Eisner, both of Sheboygan; Robert Eisner of Tucson, Ariz.; and Petra Wilhelm, Andrea Mohry, Klause Stockinger, Herta Kreuzhuber, Joeshin Maier, Eugenie Trotsch, and Heddy, all of Germany. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Eugenie was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Clarence Meyer and Lawrence Manthey; one sister, Paula Eisner; and one brother, Joseph (Hedwig) Stockinger.

A funeral to celebrate Eugenie’s life will take place at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls at 12 noon Friday, Nov. 7, with the Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Entombment will take place at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in the town of Sheboygan.

Family and friends may call at the church Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at noon.

A memorial fund is being established in her memory for the Alzheimer’s Association.
