Precision Floors & Décor, an independent flooring and home décor retailer currently located at 407 Factory Street in Plymouth, is pleased to announce the purchase of the former Plymouth Oil property at 1611 Eastern Avenue, which has been vacant for more than five years.

The purchase was made to address a critical need for additional showroom and warehouse space driven by rapid business growth since their showroom opened in July 2011.

The new location will also provide for improved retail traffic, customer access, and more convenient parking than the current location.

Precision Floors & Décor will continue to serve customers from their current location until the new showroom opens in spring 2015.

Owner Brian Zurn is pleased to be able to move forward with plans for the new location. “We have been working to purchase the property for more than seven months, and it’s exciting to finally see the work get underway.”

The former Plymouth Oil property, which includes three buildings, is located at the corner of Eastern Avenue and South Highland Avenue in Plymouth, directly across from the high school.

The oldest building, erected in 1968, will become the new Precision Floors & Décor showroom with an attached retail space on the southeast corner, following extensive renovation inside and out.

The former gas station building closest to Eastern Avenue was added in 1975, and will likely be renovated or rebuilt and leased as retail space.

The warehouse behind the showroom was constructed in 1994 and was in excellent condition, only requiring a thorough cleaning before Precision Floors inventory could be moved in.

Many community members were surprised that Zurn chose to renovate rather than tear down buildings that have long been considered an eyesore, but Zurn saw past the disrepair and found solidly built structures that just needed a facelift.

Renovation allowed him to move the project forward at lower cost, on a shorter schedule, and in a more environmentally responsible way.

Work on the future showroom building is already well underway, with the build-out of the exterior nearly complete, allowing interior renovation to continue through the winter.

Photos of the work in progress are being posted weekly to the company’s website and Facebook page so that all those interested can follow the transformation.

Brian Yerges, Plymouth City Administrator and Utilities Manager, commented, “The City of Plymouth is delighted that Precision Floors & Décor has purchased the old Plymouth Oil property on Eastern Avenue. The property is a prime corner for our community and the investment they are making is appreciated. We look forward to the much anticipated renovation and the continued growth of Precision Floors & Décor in Plymouth.”

The expansion of Precision Floors & Décor has also created the need for additional staffing. Two full time employee positions have already been added, and Zurn anticipates that additional showroom and installation personnel will be needed as the company continues to grow.

The company welcomed Tom Neilesen of Sheboygan to the design and sales team this past summer, and Dave Kohlhagen of Sheboygan Falls recently joined Precision as the new warehouse manager.

Precision Floors and Décor of Plymouth is a family owned and operated business providing quality custom flooring of all types, custom tilework, countertops and window coverings to residential and commercial customers in Northeast and East Central Wisconsin, with the largest retail showroom in Sheboygan County.
