PHS one-act play advances to State competition

The Plymouth High School one-act cast has advanced to state competition with this year’s play, “The American Dream: The American Car.”

PHS will be one of 52 schools competing Nov. 22 at the Wisconsin High School Theatre Festival in La Crosse, having advanced from regionals in October and sectionals Nov. 8.

The cast will perform for the public at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 at Generations, 1500 Douglas Drive, Plymouth.

One-act performances cannot be longer than 35 minutes, plus casts have 10 minutes total to put up and take down their sets.

“The American Dream: The American Car,” written by Cynthia Mercati, sings the praises of the great institution of the American Car, chronicling its history throughout the ages. From horsedrawn buggies to real horsepower, so many important events have happened in our cars, including the prom, cruising for chicks, drive-in movies and first driving lessons.
