Current-sponsored contest open to all

A contest is “currently” running in the Review’s sister publication, The Current. Details were announced in the November issue of The Current, and will be given in the upcoming December issue.

The challenge is to draw a solar sail. The November issue of The Current contained a long article on solar sails, but if you missed it, you can search Google for the term “solar sail” and find an ample supply of information.

Readers are encouraged to send in your most imaginative visualization of a solar sail. You can submit a drawing in any format (pen, pencil, colored pencils, markers, crayons, etc.), or an image you’ve created through electronic means (Paint, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).

Use your imagination! Consider the wild and wonderful variety of kites that are available; use your creativity similarly. We’d like to see what you can conceive.

You’ll probably need more than just a month to get your best possible effort together, so let’s set a deadline that will bring us to the February 2015 issue. Absolute, drop-dead, no-compromise due date on this: Your entry must be at The Current by January 15, 2015.

There is no age limit.

If your school wants to send all its students’ entries in one batch, there will be special recognition for the school that submits the most.

Print your name and town plainly somewhere on your drawing. If you’re sending an electronic image, send it to:
If sending by US Mail, send it
