SFHS football players capture special awards

Sheboygan Falls High School senior tight end/defensive back Joe Van Engen was selected as the recipient of the Luke Tenpas Most Dedicated Award at the Falcons Football Awards Banquet at Lakeshore Lanes Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Senior Mike Bimmel was honored with the Clay Kestell Defensive MVP Award.

Junior Sean Mattek received the Offensive MVP Award and the Special Teams MVP Award went to junior Dustin Setzer.

Mattek was named Practice Player of the Year. Bimmel earned the Defensive Lineman of the Year Award, while the Offensive Lineman of the Year Award went to senior Dalton Winter.

The Iron Falcon Award went to junior Josh Becker and the Scout Team Award was given to sophomore Derek Matz.

The Most Improved Special Teams Award was distributed to senior Justyn St. Onge. The Most improved Offense Award went to Joe Van Engen and the Most Improved Defense Award was given to junior Austin Elsing.

Mattek, Winter and Setzer were named to the second-team All- Eastern Wisconsin Conference unit. Van Engen, Bimmel and junior Max Post were named All- EWC honorable mention.

Three-year letterman awards went to senior Josh LeMahieu, senior Ben Van Zeeland, Winter and Van Engen.

Two-year letterman awards were given to Bimmel, juniors Quinn Hake, Seth Irwin, Mattek, Setzer, Becker, Elsing and sophomore Beau Goudreau.

First-year letterman awards were distributed to seniors St. Onge, Louis Moreau, juniors Post, Damian Kopec, Glenn Borden, Danial Johnson, Zach Demmler, Zach Timreck, Jackson Bayer, Ryan McGinnis, Schmitt, sophomores Bryce Stahl and Jared Tenpas.
