GRACE ELINORE SALZWEDEL

Grace Elinore Salzwedel, age 88 of Plymouth entered the Kingdom of Glory on Sunday morning (December 7, 2014) at Kindred Hearts in Plymouth.

She was born in Milan, WI, on September 16, 1926, a daughter of the late Peter Sr. and Eva (Petersen) Behr.

Grace attended Corrinth Grade School and also Glenbeulah Grade School. She later attended and graduated from Lakeshore Technical College.

She held jobs at Kohler, Borden’s, started Salzwedel Cab Company, and worked at Cleve-pak Corporation for over four decades, until retirement.

Grace married Albert William Salzwedel in 1945. The couple resided mostly in the Plymouth area following their marriage. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2012.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plymouth, where she served on the LWML, staff parish board, and also helped with bible study classes.

Grace volunteered with people who were homebound, and helped to improve their quality of life.

She served on the Activities Committee at Rocky Knoll for over 30 years, and was famous for running BINGO activities in the area, and she was also the recipient of the Pass-It-Along Award from the Fox 6 Channel News.

Grace loved to play sheepshead, baseball, going to dance clubs with Albert, fishing, snowmobiling, BINGO, and spending time with her loving family (especially Grandchildren).

She always had to be on the GO.

She is survived by her 3 children: Dan (Luan) Salzwedel of Sandia Park, NM, Bill (Jeanne) Salzwedel of Kiel, WI and Shelly (Dave) Fackler of Nashotah, WI; 9 grandchildren: Todd (Alice), Carey Danielle (Tim), Amy (Rob), Kari Del, Stacy, Nic (Sandra), Trenton, Melissa, and Jordan; 16 Greatgrandchildren; 1 sister: Adeline Doherty of Plymouth; 2 sisters-in-law: Dorothy Behr of Plymouth and Myrtle Bronkhorst of Waupun and 1 niece: Jody.

Grace is also survived by other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, father and mother-in-law: August and Paulina Salzwedel; Special grandson: Kyle; 2 Brothers: Peter Jr. and Robert; 2 Sisters: Eunice and Esther; and 1 brother-inlaw: William Doherty.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday (Dec. 12) at 10:00 A.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth, grandson Rev. Todd Salzwedel and Rev. Tom Fleischmann will cooffi ciate the services.

Visitation will be held on Thursday evening (Dec. 11) at the Suchon Funeral Home from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. and again on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services. Grace will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, WI

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Grace’s name.
