Oostburg, the defending Central Lakeshore Conference champion, upped its CLC record to 2-0 (2-3 overall). The Resorters slipped to 1-2 in the league (1-3 overall).

Elkhart jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter but the Lady Dutch rallied to within 12-11 after one quarter and grabbed a 28- 25 halftime lead.

Oostburg outscored EL-G 11-6 in the third quarter to take the lead for good, 39-31.

“Elkhart is a good, scrappy team that really hustles on the defensive end of the floor. I was re- ally impressed with their intensity and I was equally happy to see our girls fight through that and find some composure to get the victory,” said Oostburg head coach Lisa Immel.

“Oostburg just slowly kept building on their lead [in the second half]. We played real hard and gave a good effort,” said Resorter head coach Donny Kulow.

“I am proud of the way we battled against Oostburg.”

Senior forward Mariah Ausloos led Elkhart in scoring with 16 points and steals, three. Ausloos was 4-for-6 from three-point range. Sonia Schubert had a teamhigh seven assists. Rachael Flora led in rebounds with six.

“All the girls gave a solid effort and we are looking to build on it,” said Kulow.

“Aimee Bichler [sophomore forward] did a nice job for us in the middle, both offensively and defensively. The team did a nice job of not letting their slow start lose the game for us,” Immel said.
