Spirit of giving

As You See It

Paying it forward, giving to others. The elders in our community have done so for decades. Now, many of these same people find themselves at home, with limited ability to grocery shop and prepare meals. They need a little help.

To make giving easier this holiday season Meals On Wheels of Sheboygan County has launched its first online giving campaign – otherwise known as crowdfunding. Located at www.gofundme.com/ freshmealsonwheels, the site is designed to allow people to give gifts toward meals for Sheboygan County homebound residents.

Gifts can be made in honor of a teacher, friend or family member who might not need another “tie” or “coffee mug” for the holidays.

The site was quietly launched in conjunction with #Giving Tuesday and will run through the end of December. Meals On Wheel’s goal is to raise $3,000 by December 31, that covers the cost of 500 meals. To date $781 has been raised.

Meals On Wheels exists to provide warm nutritious meals for people who are unable to make their own dinners either temporarily due to an illness or surgery, or because they are elderly and cooking for one is too complicated.

For more information about enrolling your loved one in the Meals On Wheels program please call Meals On Wheels at 920-451-7011 or visit freshmealsonwheels.org.
