Marilyn J. Knepfel, age 78, of Plymouth went home to be with her Lord on December 14, 2014 at Waterford (formerly Libby’s House) in Plymouth.

She was born in Sheboygan County on March 27, 1936 daughter of late Henry and Louise (Janty) Gorsege.

She attended Elkhart Lake Grade School and graduated from Elkhart Lake High School in 1954.

On February 26, 1955 she married David W. Knepfel in Elkhart Lake. The couple has lived most of their married life in Plymouth.

After raising her children, Marilyn worked for various employers in the area, including Johnsonville and Bordens, retiring from Masters Gallery.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth for over 50 years and more recently became a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth.

Survivors include four sons Scott (Nancy) Knepfel of Edgerton, WI, Todd (Lori) Knepfel of Amherst Junction, Bruce Knepfel of Kiel, Mark (Shelley) Knepfel of Plymouth, a daughter Lisa Knepfel and fi- ancĂ©’ Keith Splude of Plymouth, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a sister Sharon (Gene) Grucelski of Elkhart Lake, and a brother Kenneth (Sally) Gorsege of Greenbush.

She was preceded in death by her husband David, her parents, and a brother and sister-in-law David and Joan Gorsege.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at 4 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Schneider Funeral Home in Plymouth with the Rev. James Hoppert officiating. Marilyn’s cremains will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park in the Town of Sheboygan. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 PM until the time of service.

A memorial fund has been established in the name of Marilyn J. Knepfel.
