Ronald C. Nonhof, age 75, formerly of Waldo, WI passed away early Sunday morning (Dec. 21st) at Rocky Knoll Health care facility where he had been a resident for 2 months.

He was born on February 10, 1939 in rural Adell, a son of the late Bernard and Martha (Claussen) Nonhof.

He attended Dye Road Grade School and graduated from Waldo High School in 1957.

On January 18, 1964 he married Marliss Heidemann at Waldo Methodist Church. The couple has resided in Waldo since their marriage and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2014.

Ronald served with the National Guard 32nd Division (Red Arrow) for 3 years where he was Private 1st Class and a medal expert marksman.

He did custom farming with his dad starting at the age of 7 and farmed until retirement in 1994.

He is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Waldo. He was also a member of the Musicians Union and played drums for several musicians.

Ronald loved training and handling horses. He led parades for many years for the 4th of July, Bratwurst Days and the Port Washington Fish Days. Ronald also enjoyed playing Dartball and had many trophies to prove it. He always kept everyone entertained with his harmonica, which he always had with him, or his button box accordion and in his earlier years he was a great dancer.

Survivors include his loving wife: Marliss of Waldo; two sisters-in-law: Virginia Nonhof of Sheboygan Falls and Jeanne Nonhof of Plymouth; nephews: Kevin (Joanne) Nonhof of Sheboygan and Chad Nonhof (special friend: Kathy) of Sheboygan; nieces: Carrie (David) Hellestad of Plymouth, Kelly (Steve) Mahloch of Plymouth and Camie (Jay) Stockhausen of Iowa; cousin: Gayle (Jon Sr.) Fisher of Plymouth and their children: Jon Jr. (Lori) Fisher of Madison, Justin (Leah) Fisher of Plymouth and Trista Fisher of Denmark and her special cat: Tinker.

He is also survived by nieces, nephew, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twins; infant sister: Caroline; two brothers: Wayne and Clyde; one nephew: Eugene; Aunts: Elizabeth Joosse, Margaret Schinker, Meta Cole, Anita Nonhof; uncles: Walter, John and Art Claussen and his special cat of 23 years: Squeaky.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon (Dec.27th) at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waldo. Pastor Nhia Wahn Her, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church and Rev. Justin Fisher, pastor of Revolution Church co-officiated. Burial was in the Waldo Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Ronald’s name.
