New Year’s Eve is one of the largest global celebrations around the world. The Big Cheese Drop is Plymouth’s favorite way of ringing in the New Year.

As the clock strikes midnight in “The Cheese Capital of the World,” … and only in Plymouth …. everyone is invited to join in this unique happening and watch an 80-pound decorated cheese wedge amazingly descend from a ladder truck operated by Plymouth Fire Department. All are welcome to attend. Bring your noisemakers, hats and good cheer.

The Jamies are an acoustic duo made up of James Shafstall and Jamie Odekirk, and are based out of Plymouth. For several years, James and Jamie attended many of the same local open mics, and in the spring of 2014 they started playing gigs together at several local establishments.

The Jamies are known for playing fun covers of recognizable songs from a wide range artists. Most nights you’ll hear them play music from Bruce Springsteen, to Hank Williams, to the Beastie Boys, and everything in-between. They pride themselves on playing something for everyone, and encourage singing along at all times.

Celeste Benzschawel is a talented singer/guitarist originally from Sheboygan Falls, and is now a full-time student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Celeste got her start playing music for audiences at the Plymouth Arts Center’s Acoustic Open Mic nights when she was just 9 years old. She has since gone on to perform at many local events and venues including The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, and Plymouth’s Mill Street Festival. In April 2014, she was invited to sing as a soloist for St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in New York City. She also medaled in numerous high school solo ensembles, and was also chosen to play the lead role at SFHS’s production of “West Side Story.”

Celeste plays mostly contemporary covers, and will put her own unmistakable spin on songs from her favorite artists, including Frank Ocean, Jake Bugg, and Eddie Vedder.

Elizabeth Cramer is an award-winning composer and pianist. She studied music composition and piano at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee under the instruction of Jeffrey Petersen, Elena Abend, Ronald Foster, and Yehuda Yannay, while honoring scholarships in both piano and composition.

Cramer also received her songwriting certificate from the Berklee School of Music (Boston, Mass.) in 2005. She performs all styles of music including: lounge, jazz, popular, rock, R & B, country, and classical.

Since 2003 she has held the position of House Pianist at both the West Bend Country Club and the Milwaukee Club on Broadway in downtown Milwaukee.

The Plymouth Arts Center is located at 520 E. Mill St., downtown, at the intersection of Eastern, Mill and North streets.
