Walter J. Dedlow Jr., age 79 of Sheboygan Falls was born to eternal life early Thursday morning (January 8, 2015) at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Plymouth on June 5, 1935, son of the late Walter Sr. and Margaret (Hein) Dedlow.

Walter attended Plymouth Grade Schools.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until he was Honorably Discharged in 1954. While in the Air Force, Walter flew in numerous missions to Iceland and Sweden to help deliver supplies.

In 1954 he began working for the Kohler Company, where he worked for 46 years until retiring on December 23, 2000. He worked in the foundry making bathtubs and always said, “I did this for 46 years to help get people clean!” He also worked for Lakeshore Display from 1976-1994.

On April 25, 1959, Walter married MaryAnne Pearce at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls.

Following their marriage the couple raised a family and resided in Sheboygan Falls. MaryAnne preceded him in death on March 13, 2008.

He was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls for many years, and also was a member at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth.

Walter’s favorite time of year was fall. Wally and MaryAnne would often get in the car and drive to the Kettles to marvel and gaze at all of God’s glorious beauty.

He loved riding his bike everywhere he could in the county and socializing along the way.

Walter worked very hard throughout his life. If he wasn’t working at his two jobs, you could often find him doing yard work, especially mowing the lawn. In the winter, he couldn’t wait until it snowed so that he could do the snow blowing. He would not only snow blow his driveway, but also his elderly neighbors’ driveways.

One of his latest achievements was obtaining his driver’s license after 50 years and being able to hang up his bike. He drove all over the county visiting many restaurants and coffee shops.

For those who knew Walter, he was very proud of his family and always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell.
