Kids Helping Kids at Camp Anokijig

Submitted photo Submitted photo Camp Anokijig’s motto is “We Serve” and that was lived out earlier this month during the annual Tube-A-Thon event where teens and young adults who have benefitted from an Anokijig experience take their turn to give back by raising funds to send less fortunate kids to a week of summer camp in 2015. “This is a chance to make a difference in a child’s life and have loads of fun doing it” noted Scott Mabie, director of outdoor education at Anokijig and organizer of the event. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the enthusiasm for the cause, with 55 participants who raised over $15,000 to help other kids.” Part of Anokijig’s mission includes the belief that every child deserves a chance to experience the life-changing influence of Camp Anokijig. “This event helps us fulfill that portion of our mission, and is a great experience in personal growth and giving for the youth involved” said Mabie. Camp encourages anyone who would like to join the efforts of these youth to serve children through camp scholarships to call the Camp Office at 920-893-0782 or visit Camp Anokijig is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to developing youth and families by providing a healthy, natural environment that promotes character building and personal growth.
