Francis won his round-one match by a pin over Jacob Benning of Brookfield Central in 2:00 and then received three straight byes. In the championship match, Tyler Nitsch of Kenosha Tremper pinned Francis in 5:59.

The Panthers placed seventh in the 10-team tournament with 77 points. Oak Creek captured the title with 194.

Plymouth’s next highest placewinners were seniors Keagan Gustin and Izack Ohman who were third at 126 and 160, respectively. Gustin won his third-place match with a 10-6 decision over Tremper’s Tyler Roe. Ohman scored an 11-0 major decision in his third-place match against Oak Creek’s Emilio Paez.

Ohman pinned Marchan. – Submitted photo The Panthers’ other place-winners included: Connor Schmidt, fifth at 106; Chase Ritt, sixth, 120; Erik Ohman, fourth, 152; Jake Hefter, sixth, 195; Cole Bruggink, eighth, 220; and Gabe Haun, fourth at 285.

“The team continues to improve every week and looked more confident going into matches last weekend,” said PHS head coach Ben Chapman.

“We are keeping matches closer and pulling out some victories at the end. Our conditioning is really starting to show.

“Nathan wrestled two excellent matches and outworked his opponents. He continues to improve every week and is already an exciting wrestler as a freshman,” said Chapman.

“Keagan Gustin and Izack Ohman finished third with convincing wins. They are wrestling smart matches and getting ready to peak at the right time of the season.”
