Rockets soar past Resorters

BOYS BASKETBALL

ELKHART LAKE – Josh Weiss scored 19 points to lead a balanced Cedar Grove-Belgium attack as the Rockets trounced the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters, 72-28, in boys basketball play here Thursday night.

Reid Hilbelink and Ethan Brochtrup chipped in with 17 and 14 points, respectively, for the Rockets who improved to 8-2 in the Central Lakeshore Conference (8-4 overall). The Rockets had nine players who scored.

The Resorters fell to 0-9 in the CLC (1-13 overall). Senior guard Trevor Taubenheim led EL-G in scoring with 13. Owen Kalbacken had a team-high four rebounds.

Hilbelink led the Rockets in assists with six and steals, five.

The Resorters shot only 24 percent (11 of 45) from the field and committed 17 turnovers. The Rockets win the rebounding battle, 29-17.

The Rockets won the junior varsity game, 42-29. Elkhart’s top scorers were Sam Lutkze, Jarrett Schanke and Caleb Broaddus with five points each.
