Even if you weren’t planning to attend, the tantalizing aroma of frying burgers, brats and poultry would reel you inside for a lunch and the desserts.

Well, we don’t even have to begin to explain how absolutely awesome those desserts are.

The food, the fun, the raffles, the food, and the giveaway items can fill an afternoon and keep one entertained and energized for the entire day.

And did I mention that there was food?

The club has not been idle this year. The activities they support and participate in is truly amazing and a credit to their club in regard to how they help the community.

The club helped the following groups last year with a collective total of $7,200, Hunter Safety Education, Pheasants Forever, Trees for Tomorrow, Sheboygan County Outdoor Activity day/Free Fishing Day, Junior Coho Derby, Camp Y-Koda, Camp Anokijig, Share the Spirit, Wounded Warrior, Youth Musky Weekend/ Turning Leaf, Sheboygan County Conservation Association Membership, Wisconsin Bowhunters, Maywood Environmental Park, National Rifle Association and Wisconsin Wildlife Federation.

Scholarships were awarded to Bree Bender, who attending University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for water resources, and Andrew Roelse of Cleveland, who is attending University of Stevens Point for forest management/GIS forestry certificate, surveyor certificate.

The Johnsonville Rod and Gun Club was established in 1919 as a community club supporting conservation and education in Sheboygan County.

All of the proceeds raised through the annual Poultry Party held the Sunday before the Super Bowl go to conservation.

Today’s club members continue to carry on the tradition of the charter members of 1919.

The Johnsonville Rod and Gun Club meets the first Wednesday of the month at Laack’s Hall in Johnsonville.

The Johnsonville Rod and Gun Club is hoping that there are some young people who want to join and help it carry on the tradition which is held in such honor by the current members and those who have retired from the club.
