Chatting with the singers

Diana Dorn of Sheboygan Falls and Connor Rehbein of Howards Grove will be performing with the Wisconsin Singers Monday night, Feb. 23, in the Sheboygan Falls High School auditorium. Dorn is a singer/dancer in the troupe and Rehbein a keyboard player.

Q & A:

When did you decide you wanted to be a member of the Wisconsin Singers?

Diana: I’ve actually wanted to be a part of the Wisconsin Singers for a number of years. I auditioned in 2012 and didn’t get in, and when the timing was right again for me in 2014 I tried again and got in. It was sort of a dream of mind since high school.

Rehbein: When I signed up for an audition, I didn’t exactly know what the Wisconsin Singers were all about, but after we got together and practiced for a couple days, I realized that I was surrounded by amazing musicians, singers and dancers that love music just as much, if not more than I do. That was when I realized I truly wanted to do Singers.

Diana, what was your reaction to meeting the Singers at South High School?

Meeting the Singers after the dance clinic at Sheboygan South was always a great experience. It was like a little glimpse into the college life and the time we got to ask personal questions about specific majors or classes was great too.

Was working with them in the clinics beneficial?

I got to work with the Wisconsin Singers in three clinics throughout high school and every time it was a blast. It’s fun to learn something new and get beneficial feedback.

Connor, when did you first see the Singers perform?

This past summer at their show in Oshkosh. I was dumbfounded at the choreography, the singing, the playing, all of it. I was a little intimidated after seeing it.

What is your favorite part of the show?

Diana: The entire thing. It’s so fun and if I’m not in a number I’m singing along backstage and having fun the entire time.

Connor: The Fifth Quarter, because we all sing and play it like were at a Fifth Quarter at Camp Randall. We just have fun and jam out to our favorite Badger song.

What is your reaction to doing the show in Sheboygan Falls?

Diana: I am ecstatic to do a show in Sheboygan Falls and show the community what we have been working on all year. It is going to be a great time and I hope everyone can make it.

Connor: Doing a show in the Sheboygan area definitely has me excited. It’s our chance to show our friends family, and neighbors what we can do and what we have been working on for the past couple months.
