Clarke

To the Editor,

It is now being advertised that Milwaukee County Sheriff, David Clarke, will be speaking to The Sheboygan County Republicans on Feb. 22. That inspired me to write a few words about the why Sheriff Clarke is becoming well known in law enforcement throughout the country.

Sheriff Clarke’s credentials are impeccable. While working his way up from patrol officer, he graduated summa cum laude from Concordia College with a degree in criminal justice management. He recently undertook and earned a master’s degree in Security Studies from the US Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security. Along the way he continually practiced his trade, ran for and performed the duties of County Sheriff and completed continuing education and advanced courses in law enforcement. Sheriff Clarke is one of the most knowledgeable law enforcement officials in the country. Indeed, his knowledge and expertise about law enforcement was requested and used as part of the confirmation hearings for a new Attorney General to replace Eric Holder.

Sheriff Clarke has become nationally known because of his disdain for the rioters in Ferguson, Missouri and in particular those, like Al Sharpton, whose presence enflamed rather than calmed tempers. He is critical of the Obama administration and Eric Holder’s Justice Department who he felt did more to intensify the problem than provide a cure. His main complaint was that the Rule of Law was being challenged by an unruly mob who was willing to convict a police officer without due process.

During Sheriff Clarke’s last election, close to a million dollars was unsuccessfully spent by left wing interests to defeat his bid. They apparently did not want the African-American sheriff to run the department. I think that his controversial points of view will make for an interesting visit to Sheboygan County.
