Three Resorters go 5-0 in Laconia tourney

Navis earned a pin in only 24 seconds. – Photo by Mike McGill ROSENDALE – Brock Bonebrake, Trevor Rebedew and Nick Miller were 5-0 to lead the Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulahh/ Howards Grove Resorters in Saturday’s Laconia Duals wrestling tournament.
Seniors Bonebrake and Rebedew chalked up four pins each at 138 and 145 pounds, respectively. Miller, a senior, recorded three pins and a technical fall at 182. Miller didn’t allow any points in the tourney.
The Resorters, who had only eight competitors in the tourney because of injuries, finished 0-5 in the six-team, round-robin dual event. Elkhart lost to Chilton/Hilbert, Laconia, Ripon, Kewaskum and Whitnall. Laconia won the title with a 5-0 record.
“Brock, Trevor and Nick wres- tled very well. All three wrestled like they were on a mission today and look to be peaking at the perfect time,” said Resorter head coach Larry Ward.
Winning two matches each for EL-G/HG were Max Ward at 113, Troy Rebedew, 160/170 and Alex Navis at 220/285. Navis, a junior at Howards, earned both of his victories with pins. The Resorters didn’t have any other wrestlers with victories.
The Resorters finished their regular dual season with a 9-13 mark. EL-G/HG will compete in the Central Lakeshore Conference tournament Saturday at Cedar Grove.
