Resorters rally to end losing streak

STOCKBRIDGE – A secondhalf rally lifted the Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah Resorters over Stockbridge, 40-33, in a nonconference boys basketball game here Thursday night.

The victory snapped the Resotters’ 10-game losing streak and upped their record to 2-16. The Indians, who defeated Elkhart earlier this season, dropped to 4-11.

Elkhart trailed 21-12 in the first half and then used a 5-0 run to close the gap to 21-17 at halftime. The Resorters outscored Stockbridge 23-12 in the second half, keyed by strong rebounding and defense, and an aggressive offense.

“We didn’t make any major adjustments at half, we just challenged the our posts to get after it on the glass and implored the kids not to accept losing,” said Resorter head coach Ray Mlada.

“Our full-court pressure seemed to fatigue them and prevent them from getting into a flow, offensively. We shot a little better then normal and did a nice job getting into gaps and attacking the basket.”

Trevor Taubenheim led Elkhart in scoring with 12 points. Owen Kalbacken ripped down a teamhigh and season-high 13 rebounds. Tyler Schultz led in assists with six.
