Five Resorters earn sectional berths

Miller won, 7-5. – Photo by Craig Hoffman, Tri-County News VALDERS – The Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah/Howards Grove Resorters qualified five wrestlers for sectional competition at the Division 2 regional tournament here Saturday.

The top-two finishers at each weight class advance to the sectional at Milwaukee Lutheran Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m.

Leading the way for the Resorters is senior Brock Bonebrake who won the 138-pound championship. Bonebrake, 43-3, pinned Chilton/ Hilbert’s Casey Lisowe in the fi- nals in 5:45.

Also qualifying for EL-G/HG are the following wrestlers who all placed second: freshman Max Ward at 113; senior Trevor Rebedew, 145; freshman Troy Rebedew, 160; and senior Nick Miller, 182. This is the most sectional qualifiers for the Resorters since 1990.

Bonebrake earned a pin. – Photo by Craig Hoffman, Tri-County News The Resorters’ other place-winners were Trent Rebedew, third at 132; Jared Shaw, fourth, 152; Elliot Van Oss, fifth, 170; and Alex Navis, third, 220.

Chilton/Hilbert won the sixteam regional with 215 points and the Resorters took fourth at 151.5.

“The team had a great performance at regionals. I am very proud of all the guys who wrestled Saturday,” said Resorter head coach Larry Ward.

“This is a special group of guys with some great senior leadership.”
