Village approves park plans

HOWARDS GROVE—The Village Board approved hiring LJM Architects to design the restroom facilities at Memorial Park Monday.

The Lions Club requested that the village approve spending $3,800 for engineering plans, so that they may be able to obtain a grant for the construction of the project.

Trustee Henry Verfuerth questioned where the money would come from because the money wasn’t available from the park budget.

Village President James Scheiber stated that even if the grant money wasn’t made available to the Lions, he felt that this project would benefit the village because the current conditions of the restrooms at Memorial Park aren’t that desirable and need updating.

The board recommended approval of the $3,800 and will use money collected from park impact fee fund.

Clerk/Treasurer Joanne Lesser requested to contract with a collection agency so that the village can recover past due revenues that had been charged to persons within and outside of the village of Howards Grove limits.

A recommendation from the Finance Committee for setting the payment term to five years for special assessments was postponed.

Scheiber discussed the work in progress. The sidewalk project, FEMA, TID project and last pavement of the subdivisions requests remain unchanged from last month’s report.
