‘Movie Tuesday’ at library

“Movie Tuesdays” at the Plymouth Library will continue Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.

February’s feature is “The Philadelphia Story,” a sophisticated romantic comedy about a rich, spoiled socialite who learns some things about who she is and what she really wants on the eve of her second marriage. The movie features Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart.

Make cheese curds, hat or lures

Plymouth School District Community Education and Recreation is offering new classes on making cheese curds, knitting a beret and creating fishing lures, plus a Financial Series this spring.

Register by Feb. 27 and save $10 on the following classes, which will meet at Plymouth High School, 125 Highland Ave.:

Fishing Lure Making & More: This class for boys and girls in grades two through eight will offer ways to make and enhance fishing lures with household and recyclable items. The class also will cover basic knot tying, baiting a hook, creative options with lures and fishing techniques as well as conversation focused on the joy of fishing. Students in grades two through four should attend with an adult; those in grades five through eight may attend on their own. Class will meet with instructor Jeff Otto from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, March 9 and 16; the fee, which includes all supplies, is $8 until Feb. 27, then $18.

Home Cheese Making - Cheese Curds: Learn about the cheesemaking process in this fun class and make cheese curds to sample and take home. Class will meet with instructor Linda Conroy, owner of Moonwise Herbs, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11; the fee, which includes all supplies, is $30 until Feb. 27, then $40.

Knitted Slouchy Hat: This popular style is warm and attractive, and is made on circular needles using alpaca yarn. Knitters have a choice of three patterns; samples are available in the Community Ed & Rec offi ce. Class will meet with instructor Sharon Schlundt from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, March 12 and 19; the fee is $20 ($16 for Generations members and district residents ages 62 and above) until Feb. 27, then $30 ($26). The Financial Series with Margaret Wittkopp of Veritas Financial Services is designed to boost your investment knowledge. Sessions will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays from March 10 to 24; fee is $5 per class or $12 for the series until Feb. 27. Sessions are:

Mind over Money (March 10): Why do investors do what they do? Recognize and avoid pitfalls that can affect your financial plan.

Separating Myths and Truths of Investing (March 17): Discover four long-held (and dangerous) Wall Street Myths.

Costs, the Dark Side of Investing (March 24): Discover the hidden dollar leaks in your portfolio and how to avoid them.

SJL hosting marriage retreat

St. John Lutheran Church is hosting a Spring Marriage Retreat Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27 and 28, at the Tree of Life Retreat Center.

This is a one-night retreat for couples of any length of marriage or stage of life. It has no boundaries. Participants have a chance to come and be filled, be refreshed, be restored.

This is a new retreat, starting at 7 p.m. Friday and ending Saturday evening after dinner together.
