Love Inc. launches

To the Editor:

On Tuesday, February 17th, Love in the Name of Christ of Sheboygan County (Love INC) held its grand opening as a cooperative ministry between churches throughout the county, serving together to help neighbors-inneed in transforming their lives.

To date, 29 churches from a broad range of denominations are working together, and coordinating helping ministries with churches, social services agencies and other community resources to ensure that people in need in the county can be partnered with those who can help them help themselves.

I serve as the chairman of the Love INC Board of Directors.

In this capacity, and as pastor of a congregation in Sheboygan, every day I see people who need help.

What is different about Love INC is that the focus in mobilizing churches to help neighbors in need is on how the person who needs help can start to transform his or her own life by connecting with love in action.

Love in action is how God works in the world. God uses those who serve Him to do His will.

Love in action is how love is described in the Bible. Love is described not as a feeling, but as “a still more excellent way,” a way which is then described using 15 verbs (1 Cor. 13) which refer to what love does, how love acts.

That is what Love INC is doing, acting in God’s name to help relieve suffering and to show all the path to hope, breaking the cycle of poverty and crisis.

The launch of the Love INC ministries emphasizes that all can “Look at what love has done!”

It will be because of loving hearts - the hearts of volunteers, donors, partners and those who are transformed—that the face of need in Sheboygan County will be transformed.
