Lawrence L. Elmer, age 77, of the town of Rhine, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, Jan. 14, 2010, at his home.

He was born on May 15, 1932, in Plymouth, Wis. He was raised by his grandparents, Albert and Mary Elmer, and his Aunt Hazel.

He attended Plymouth Grade Schools and Plymouth High School.

On June 16, 1951, he married Viola Werner in Sheboygan Wisconsin. The couple has resided in town of Rhine all their married life.

Dad was an entrepreneur and wore many hats in the business world, along with helping his wife farm.

He enjoyed going to auctions and finding the “Deal of the Day.”

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Viola, of town of Rhine; six children, David (Lynn) Elmer of Plymouth, Mary (Michael) Klahn of Plymouth, Robert (Ellie) Elmer of Green Bay, Sandra (Greg) Hildebrand of Plymouth, Joseph Elmer (special friend Kelly Dart) of Elkhart Lake and Catharine Gorr of Sheboygan; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by other extended family in Indiana, Michigan, New York and Milwaukee. Lawrence was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy. Following Lawrence’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or viewing.
