RICHARD L. SIMONS RICHARD L. SIMONS Richard L. Simons, age 83 of Plymouth, WI passed away Monday evening (March 9, 2015) at Rocky Knoll Healthcare Facility in Plymouth.

He was born on March 11, 1931 in Grand Rapids , MI, a son of the late Alfred and Marie (Kleihege) Simons.

He graduated from Griffith High School in Griffith, Indiana and also earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Art from Indiana University and a Master’s Degree in art/education from St. Thomas College in St. Paul, MN.

Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955.

On August 17, 1957 he married Jean Fischer at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in St. Paul, MN. Following their marriage the couple resided in New Holstein.

Richard was an art and stage craft teacher for the New Holstein school system for 33 years retiring in 1990.

He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church in Eden.

Richard enjoyed playing the keyboard, piano and the organ, reading mystery novels, woodworking and painting – a real fix- it person.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years: Jean of Plymouth; one son: Steve (Carrie) Simons of Maple Valley, WA; four daughters: Suzanne (Gary) Baker of Grandville, OH, Deb Simons of Florence, WI, Mary Beth (Dan) Palof of Sitka, AK and Amy (B.J.) Royes of West Bend, WI; nine grandchildren: Wes (Maria) Simons, Lucas Simons, Kyle Baker, Wanling Baker, Hannah Palof, Rosie Palof, Walter Palof, Josh Royes and Zack Royes and one sister: Mary Jane Simons of San Diego, CA.

He is also survived by nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law, other relative and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother: Al Simons.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning (Mar. 13th) at 10:30 A.M. at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church in Eden. Father John Radetski, pastor of the church will officiate. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Plymouth.

Friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth on Thursday evening (Mar. 12th) from 5-7 P.M. and at the church on Friday morning (Mar. 13th) from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Richard’s name for the Salvatorian Mission Warehouse in New Holstein.
