Jack Douglass died peacefully at home with best friend and companion, his dog Buster in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on March 8, 2015 at the age of 76.

Jack will be deeply missed and is survived by his three children, John Douglass of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, Sally Lloyd (Joe) of Downers Grove, Illinois, and Anne Markham (Joe) of Naples, Florida. Jack also had five grandchildren, John Lindsay and Claire Douglass, Lucy and Will Lloyd, and Katie Markham.

Jack was born on November 5, 1938 in Joliet IL to Jack and Jessie Douglass. He attended Michigan State University and was married to Jessie Vaughan for 25 years. Jack remarried Bonnie Off.

Jack owned and operated the Jack Douglass Chevrolet dealership in Hinsdale, Illinois and raised his children there with Jessie.

Jack was the youngest Chevrolet dealer at the time of his ownership and operated the business for 25 years. During his years as a car dealer, Jack was involved in Indy Car racing at the highest level and sponsored the 1978 Indianapolis 500, with a car driven by Al Unser Sr.

Jack relocated in recent years to Elkhart Lake to be close to his passion of auto racing. A memorial service will be held in honor of Jack during the Vintage race at Road America in September. The family requests that Jack be remembered by donations to the HRC which is an organization Jack was very involved in to preserve the historic races in Elkhart Lake. His extensive collection of artwork has been donated to the HRC and will be auctioned off during that weekend.
