Haslee-Doebert-Schmidt American Legion #261 Auxiliary minutes

The February meeting was called to order by President Kathy Bardon on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 at 1pm, at the Greenbush Legion Hall.

A prayer was read by Chaplin Lorraine Gaffey. A moment of silence was observed for our deceased members.

Ten senior members answered roll call.

The secretary’s minutes were read and approved.

The treasurer’s report was filed for audit.

We received “Thank you” notes from Zoblocki VAMC, Plymouth Food Pantry, Resorting Hope Transplant House, Fisher House for Wisconsin, Rocky Knoll, and Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety.

Badger Girls State forms have been sent in.

The winter newsletter was sent out.

Judy Kudo, 2nd District President would like the units in Sheboygan County to promote leadership. We are to keep track of our community service hours.

A nomination was made by Lorraine Gaffney and seconded by Pat Gaffney to make a monetary donation to Camp American Legion for garbage bags.

The sixth graders of Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah school will again participate in the Poppy Poster contest. We will judge them at our April 9th meeting.

Our chicken and brat fry will be May 3rd.

Liz Quackenbass reported on the Sunshine fund.

We will continue to save poptop tabs and aluminum cans for the Food Pantry, coupons from the Sunday paper for the Sunshine fund, and the I pods for “Raising Your Voice in Song” for our veterans.

A delicious lunch was served by Lorraine Gaffney.

Lorraine Gaffney won the door prize.

Our next meeting will be March 12, 2015.

A motion to adjourn was made by Kathy Kohlmann and seconded by Delores Miller.

The Treasure’s report was filed for audit.

Bottled water and cookies were collected and sent for the Veteran’s Job Fair, which was held at the War Memorial in Milwaukee.

The second District Spring Conference will be at the First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls, April 25th.

A Denise Rohan Fund raiser dinner for National Commander will be May 15th, at Laack’s Hall.

Unwanted paperback books are wanted for deployed troops in Iraq and Afghanistan (no romance). It is called the National Security Project for Sheboygan County Veterans.

Fun Calendar money was collected for a special funding for Auxiliary Woman’s Emergency Fund.

The Easter Egg Hunt will be the day before Easter.

Our Chicken & Brat Fry will be May 3, 2015.

Poppy posters will be judged at our next meeting, April 9th, at 6pm.
