Knepfel leads Elkhart in season opener

OSHKOSH – Senior Logan Knepfel won the Division 3 60-meter high hurdles in 9.03 seconds to lead the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters in Thursday’s Oshkosh Invitational small school boys indoor track meet.

The Resorters finished 24th in the 43-team meet (divisions 2 and 3 combined) at UW-Oshkosh’s Kolf Sports Center with 17 points. The meet was the season opener for Elkhart.

Freedom captured first overall with 100 points. Sheboygan Falls took 34th with 6.5.

Also scoring team points for Elkhart as top-eight finishers in D-3 were sophomore Andrew Sitko who took fourth in the 3,200 run in 11 minutes, 18.23 seconds and freshman Hunter Radloff who placed seventh in the 1,600 with a 5:18.33 clocking.

“Logan started the season well, winning the D-3 hurdle finals after going through a rerun after some technical difficulties,” said Resorter head coach Chris Pettie.

“Andrew came out and ran a good time to start off his season in the 3,200. We had some young guys do some nice things and set a base to build a successful season on.”
