Judge

Sheriff Todd W. Priebe

To the Editor,

On April 7, 2015, citizens of Sheboygan County will have the duty of selecting our next circuit court judge. This is a selection that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Every voter should understand the role of the circuit court judge and which of the candidates has the experience relevant to the role of the circuit court judge.

The closest an individual can get to actually experiencing the role of a circuit court judge is that of the circuit court commissioner. There’s no other job or position that can better prepare one for being a circuit court judge than that of a commissioner.

For the past 11 years Rebecca Persick has experienced firsthand the issues we have here in Sheboygan County. Rebecca has had the best preparation for the role of circuit court judge. She has authorized search warrants, presided over criminal, divorce, paternity, mental health, delinquency, traffic, ordinance, child in need of protection and services, and injunction cases.

Before retiring as circuit court judge for Branch 4, Terence T. Burke was the circuit court commissioner and had served this county honorably. I am sure that his experience as commissioner benefited him greatly as the Branch 4 Circuit Court Judge.

Character is the other key factor in the selection. For Rebecca it’s not about prestige, power or status, it’s all about fair and impartial public service. She is committed to those that she serves here in Sheboygan County. A glance at the local endorsements, including our judiciary, law enforcement and District Attorney’s Office, they see what I see...the logical choice is Rebecca Persick.
