UW-S Easter play features soul-searching Judas

This Easter weekend, join the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan as it offers a thought-provoking play that will provide area residents with an opportunity to reflect on faith and examine some hard truths about ourselves and our society.

University Theatre will present “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot” Thursday, April 2 through Saturday, April 4, 2015, in the UW-Sheboygan Fine Arts Theatre.

In this play, Judas, after his betrayal of Jesus, sits in purgatory as the trial deciding his fate takes place. And as a result of the timebending setting of purgatory, the play brings in characters throughout history who come to Judas’ defense and to his condemnation.

The University Theatre production will feature 16 cast members playing 26 roles. Actors have a wide range of experience levels and include UW-Sheboygan students, former students and community residents.

To further community discussion on the topics presented in play, the campus will offer a special panel discussion, “Jesus and Judas: Forgiveness and Culpability,” on Saturday, April 4 at 6 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre, preceding the final showing of the play that evening. Performances of “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot” will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2; Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4, along with 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 4.
