As You See It

Attorney Natasha Torry- Morgan

To the Editor,

I am a Sheboygan County attorney, and I endorse, support, and will vote for Rebecca Persick as Circuit Court Judge on April 7th.

I was born, raised, and educated in the City of Sheboygan. Except for the ten years that I attended college, served in the active military service, and at- tended law school, I have resided my entire life in Sheboygan. Most of the 36 years that I have practiced law in Sheboygan, I have had my own law practice. Every day I have opportunities to work with Sheboygan County attorneys, Courthouse personnel, District Attorneys and Circuit Court Judges.

Since I have been an attorney these many years, in the same community where both candidates for Circuit Court Judge live and work, I have also had an opportunity to interact with each candidate. Because Rebecca Persick has been the Sheboygan County Court Commissioner for 11 years, a full-time position, I have had significantly more contact with her, since I, like most attorneys, practice primarily in the Circuit Courts located within the Courthouse.

Although both candidates have been attorneys for years prior to their current positions, when I compare what Rebecca Persick, as Sheboygan County Court Commissioner, has done on a daily basis for eleven years, with what Catherine Delahunt, the City of Sheboygan/Kohler Municipal Court Judge, has done for nine years, there is no comparison. The variety of legal matters that Rebecca Persick has handled, as Sheboygan County Court Commissioner, gives her far greater experience to prepare her to handle the legal matters that will face our next Circuit Court Judge.

When in Circuit Court, all participants want to appear before knowledgeable, experienced, and qualified judges. The judges of Sheboygan County, attorneys of Sheboygan County, along with Sheboygan County law enforcement and social workers, who work in the legal system, recognize who is the more experienced and better qualified individual to be Circuit Court Judge. They overwhelmingly support Rebecca Persick.

Finally, I do take issue with the insinuation that the attorneys or law enforcement personnel who endorse Rebecca Persick may have an underlying motive to gain favorable decisions if, and when, they appear before her as Circuit Court Judge. Who better to give an endorsement than those individuals who work with both candidates on a regular basis? We know the legal reputations of each candidate. We know who is the better qualified and has the most experience. We know Rebecca Persick is the better choice for Circuit Court Judge.

Please join me in voting for Rebecca Persick on Tuesday, April 7th. me under her wing and generously shared her knowledge with me. I admired her when we met. I respect her even more now. Sheboygan County would be very fortunate to have Rebecca Persick in Circuit Court Branch 4.
