Schubert leads Resorters at Oshkosh Invite

OSHKOSH – Sophomore Sonia Schubert placed fifth in the 60-meter dash and long jump to lead the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters in the Oshkosh Invitational small school girls indoor track meet Tuesday.

The Resorters finished 14th in the 36-team meet at UW-Os- hkosh’s Kolf Sports Center with 15 points. Kiel and Freedom shared the title with 48 each.

Schubert posted a time of 8.33 seconds in the 60 dash and went 15-11¾ in the long jump. Also placing fifth for Elkhart was junior Emily Holzmann in the 60 high hurdles with a 10.31 clocking.

The Resorters’ other placewinner (top eight) was the 800 relay which earned sixth in 1 minute, 55.62 seconds. The relay included Holzmann, Camrie Schmitz, Lauren Boos and Schubert.

“I’m very happy with this outing. For the girls this is an ultra- competitive meet that provides a good reference point for where we are and where we need to go to be successful long term this season,” said Resorter head coach Chris Petrie.

“Every athlete set a personal record and fed off each other’s energy. Sonia led the way – scoring in two individual events and one relay [800]. Emily improved upon her indoor time from last year in the hurdles.

“The 800 relay laid down a quality time and demonstrated their determination out of a slower heat. It was a fun meet and our team score was the best we’ve accomplished at this meet in a long time,” said Petrie.
