GARY A. HIGLEY

Gary A. Higley, 68, of Waldo, WI, passed away early Tuesday morning (April 7, 2015) at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee from complications of the heart.

He was born on December 19, 1946 in Portage, WI, a son of the late Burton Charles and Leah (Freeland) Higley.

He graduated from Poynette High School in 1965. He served in the United States Army as an Army Paratrooper, 101st Airborne Sergeant. He was honorably discharged on February 16, 1972.

On December 22, 1967 he married Janette Petit in Clayton, North Carolina.

Gary worked at GTE in Sun Prairie and Plymouth for 25 years and at Toro Company for 16 years, retiring in 2013.

He was a member of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth, serving as an usher for several years.

He was a member of Plymouth Ducks Unlimited for over 20 years and taught hunter safety for many years. He was a former member of the Plymouth Rotary club and served as President.

He enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, hunting, playing cards, was an avid reader, and a terrific Green Bay Packers fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years: Janette of Waldo; Three daughters: Deborah A. (Bruce) Munz, Robin R. Southworth (special friend Shawn Liermann) of Plymouth, and Jana L. (Tom) Keller of Tampa, FL; Grandchildren: Brandon, Cortney (Marco), Kayla, Hannah, Thomas; Great grandchildren: Alexis, Dylan, Chayse; Brothers and sisters: Leone (Robert) Pearson of Warrens, WI, Ray (Marlene) Higley of Poynette, WI, Betty (Leon) Brickl of Rochelle, Illinois, Judy (Chuck) Grotzke of Princeton, WI. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-inlaw, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; One brother: Harland Higley; and Three sisters: Patricia Hoyheim, Audrey Vandre, and Cheryl Arfman.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday (April 11) at Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Rev. Chuck Brummond will officiate. Burial will be in the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Saturday (April 11) from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Gary’s name for Redeemer Lutheran Church.

The Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612 will conduct military rites following the service at church.
