SCHRC History on the Move program to feature postcards

History on the Move, sponsored by the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center, begins it spring season at the Cedar Grove Public Library on Tuesday, April 14.

The topic for this presentation is postcards. Deltiology, the official name for postcard collecting, is thought to be one of the three largest collectable hobbies in the world, along with coin and stamp collecting.

Postcards are popular because of the wide range of subjects, with just about every subject imaginable being at some time portrayed on a postcard.

History itself can be tracked on postcards, be it historical buildings, famous people, art, holidays, streets, etc. We’ll have some fun with this one.

The program runs from 6-7:30 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.

The presentation is open to the public free of charge.

The Cedar Grove Public Library is located at 131 Van Altena St. in Cedar Grove.
