Second Saturdays to share Superior stories

Second Saturdays-Journeys into Local History, sponsored by the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center, continues Saturday, April 11, when columnist and writer Dennis McCann shares stories from his new book, “This Superior Place: Stories of Bayfield and the Apostle Islands.”

McCann spent most of his professional life traveling Wisconsin and the Midwest for the Milwaukee Journal and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

A Wisconsin native and graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Madison, he is the author of four previous books on Wisconsin travel and history, including “Badger Boneyards: The Eternal Rest of the Story.”

Picturesque little Bayfield on Lake Superior is Wisconsin’s smallest city by population, but one of its most popular visitor destinations.

McCann’s book captures those unique qualities that keep tourists coming back year after year and offers a historically reliable look at the community as it is today and how it came to be.

The event will take place at the Plymouth Arts Center, located at 520 East Mill St. in Plymouth, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Open to the public, the free presentation is appropriate for adults and students 10 and older. No reservations are needed.
