OOSTBURG – The Howards Grove Tigers’ boys and girls teams placed second in their respective Central Lakeshore Conference quadrangular meets here Tuesday.

Sheboygan Lutheran won the boys meet with 80 points, followed by the Tigers with 73, Oostburg, 72 and the Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah Resorters with 23.

Oostburg won the girls competition with 75 points, followed by HGHS with 59, EL-G, 50 and Lutheran, 18. The two meets kicked off the outdoor seasons for Elkhart and HGHS.

Sophomores Camrie Schmitz and Sonia Schubert of Elkhart were double-winners in the girls meet. Schmitz took first in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Schubert won the long and triple jumps.

Tiger freshman Mattie Milz was a double-winner in the girls quadrangular as she captured first in the 400 dash and 1,600 run.

“We were very pleased for the first meet. The kids have had limited practices with a late start to the season and spring break, so we couldn’t have hoped for anything better,” said Tiger co-head coach Calli Nonnemacher.
