Resorters win on Feldmann’s hit

ELKHART LAKE – Junior Emma Feldmann’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah softball team a thrilling 6-5 win over Sheboygan Lutheran/ Kohler here Thursday afternoon.

The Resorters raised their Central Lakeshore Conference record to 2-0 (2-0 overall), with both wins by one run.

Claire Feldmann (Emma’s younger sister), a sophomore, led off the Elkhart eighth with a single and moved to second base on Raechel Grunewald’s sacrifice bunt. Emma Feldmann followed with her game-winner.

“Another great softball game,” said Resorter head coach Brian Feldmann. “Lutheran is a great team. They battled back, and our kids just dug in and played a great last couple of innings.”

The Crusaders rallied with four runs in the sixth to tie the game, 5-5. Kaelin Serroco’s tworun single keyed the comeback.

Elkhart built a 5-0 lead after two frames, fueled by a four-run first. Claire Feldmann’s RBI triple and a two-run base hit by Rachael Flora ignited the outburst.

The Resorters banged out 12 hits, led by Sonia Schubert, Claire Feldmann and Emma Feldmann with three each. Flora had a team-high two RBIs. Schubert hit a solo home run in the second.

Jordyn Thaves had a teamhigh two hits for Lutheran/ Kohler.
