Gunslinger

As You See It

I recently heard about Scott Walker’s keynote speech, which he delivered at the NRA Convention in Nashville, and I despise the fact that his latest attempt to hop in bed with NRA includes his false assertion, because of his position, that Wisconsin is a gun-happy state.

As our representative, it would have been sufficient for Walker to say that the recre- ational use of guns in Wisconsin is accepted, but he went on to say he is all in favor of hand guns, and he now wants to make it even easier to acquire them by eliminating the 48-hour waiting period. This is certainly where he and I differ.

Walker has used his position, despite his narrow margin of victory in recent elections, to declare that Wisconsin is “all in” on the support of any pro-gun legislation, marching lockstep with the NRA, a major contributor to his campaign fund.

I’m really dumbfounded to observe how this country has turned into such a gun culture.

The outrageous number of murders in Milwaukee recently plainly indicates that proliferation of firearms, and the ease at which one may acquire them, is part of the problem.

But, the powers of special interest groups like the NRA and the Koch Brothers have been able to manipulate a vast number of uninformed Americans into believing that all is well.

It is no wonder that this is where the Scott Walkers of the world make their appearances.

Please, Mr. Walker, don’t do this at the expense of the vast number of peace-loving Wisconsinites who happen NOT to think “happiness is a warm gun.”
