Panthers sweep EWC quadrangular meets

PHS dominated both meets – rolling up 152 points in the girls competition and 151.5 in the boys meet. Kiel took a distant second in the girls field with 96, followed by host Sheboygan Falls at 91 and Campbellsport with only 11.

Kiel captured second in the boys meet with 130.5, followed by Falls with 92 and Campellsport, 58.

“Both teams competed well under tough weather conditions,” said Panther head coach Jay Grosshuesch.

“Our boy and girl sprinters had solid meets, especially Samuel Staehling, Jake Schneider and Morgan Lisowe. Mary Albert and Jonell Klopf looked good in both hurdle races, and Brooke Koehn, Sophie Bolich and Julia Novotny had good distance races.”

Staehling won the 100 dash and Schneider took first in the 200 in the boys competition.

The PHS boys’ other winners included: Corby Gafney in the 1,600 run; Zach Albers in the 110 high hurdles and 300 intermediate hurdles; 800 relay – Schneider, Dominic Bocchini, Staehling and Evan Sebranek; Staehling, high jump; Cody Kuhn, long jump; and Jake Steinhardt in the triple jump.

The Panthers’ winners in the girls meet included:

Lisowe in the 100 dash; Bolich, 1,600; Maria Ryan, 3,200; Mary Albert, 100 highs and 300 low hurdles; 3,200 relay – Margeaux Syttner, Sophie Albert, Kayla Lentz and Bolich; and Kyra Kronberg in the discus.
