It was party time Saturday at Generations as the intergenerational center celebrated its fourth birthday with activities, food and fun. The highlight of the “Celebrate Generations” event was the planting of a tree dedicated to the late Don and Alma Krauss, benefactors and supporters of the center, by members of their family (cover).

“Don and Alma blessed the community of Plymouth,” attorney David Andrews (top right) told the audience.

“Don is one of the people I think of when I think of everyday heroes,” commented Plymouth Intergenerational Coalition Board Secretary Marsha Vollbrecht. “He’s left a legacy that never will be forgotten.”

The event also showcased the award received by Generations for the “Best Intergenerational Communities” for 2015 from Generations United and the Met Life Foundation earlier this year.

Generations Executive Director Joann Van Horn Wieland acknowledged the efforts of everyone involved in the center in earning the award, stating, “The intergenerational concept is an important one for the community. We will continue to challenge ourselves to do more.”
