State 57 closed for crossing work

Work began this week on the State 57 railroad crossing between County PP and County C in Plymouth, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) office in Green Bay.

The crossing will be closed to traffic and will reopen by Friday, May 8. The entire State 57 railroad crossing project should wrap up by the end of June.

Work includes re-installing the railroad crossing, including new signals, gates, approaches, sighing and road marking.

The crossing will be closed to through traffic for two weeks. The detour is State 28, Interstate 43 and State 23. Following this closure, there will be additional work that could require lane closures.

This work is part of a larger project to re-install the railroad line from Plymouth to Kohler.
