Celebrating trees in Elkhart Lake

The village of Elkhart Lake held their Arbor Day celebration Friday. A Ginkgo tree was planted along State 67. Olivia Witthun, urban forestry coordinator with the DNR, was able to participate in the program and teach kids about the proper way to plant and care for trees. The Tree Commission also hosted it annual poster contest for the fifth graders at Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah schools. The winners were (left to right, bottom right) Malorie Prigge, Nicole Loritz and Crystal Schipper. The village has been a Tree City USA city for 15 years.
