HOWARD JOHN SCHULTE

Howard John Schulte, passed away Monday April 2015, in Florida.

He was born on June 2, 1927, in Sheboygan, WI a son of the late Edmund and Anna (VanTreek) Schulte.

He attended Holy Name grade school and graduated in the class of 1941. After graduating from North High School, class of 1945, he entered the United States Army in August of 1945. After basic training he was sent to the ETO where he served in a military police company which traveled all over Western Europe wherever trouble would arise. After his discharge in 1947 he entered Northwestern University and graduated in June of 1950. He then earned a master’s degree from the University of Southern California while teaching at Palos Verde Junior College. In 1952 he joined the faculty of Elgin (Illinois) High School and Elgin Community College, teaching psychology and economics. He retired in June of 1989.

He spent his summers on Crystal Lake from 1941, during these summers; he worked at Club Elkhart and Siebkens Resorts.

After retiring, his winters were spent in Bradenton, FL and summers at Crystal Lake.

Howard is survived by two nephews and a niece and four grand-nephews and three grand-nieces.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday Morning (May 2) at 11:00 A.M. at 87, 27, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake. Father Dan Volkert, pastor of the church will officiate and burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Plymouth on the Van Treek plot. Visitation will be held Saturday morning at the Resurrection Chapel at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Howard’s name.
