Manufacturing education group marks 25th year serving region

The Shoreline Chapter was officially proclaimed and recorded as a Chapter of American Production and Inventory Control Society, Inc. on May 19, 1990 and this year will be celebrating the 25th year as a part of the APICS family.

For the past quarter century, the chapter has focused on its mission of providing manufacturing educational resources and promoting professionalism in operations to those working and residing in the Wisconsin Shoreline area (Manitowoc & Sheboygan Counties and surrounding areas).

The Chapter is dedicated to serving its membership, area educational institutions and business community with educational programs, services and career assistance.

Several times each year, the Shoreline Chapter Board of Directors surveys the membership's needs, and uses this information to continue the development of the Chapter's offerings.

The Shoreline Chapter area includes the following communities: Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Brillion, Kiel, Sheboygan Falls, Oostburg, Cedar Grove, Cleveland, Elkhart Lake, Howards Grove, Kohler, St. Nazianz, Two Rivers, and Plymouth. Currently the chapter serves over 60 professional and student members across seven counties bordering the Lake Michigan Shoreline, by providing monthly professional development meetings, a monthly newsletter, educational certification courses, plant tours, employment resources, problem solving, and professional networking.

The Shoreline Chapter also has an Affiliate Student Chapter, named the Supply Chain and Business Operations Club, at Lakeshore Technical College, in Cleveland,, sponsoring the club in the APICS student case competition and providing scholarship opportunities to the students. The chapter also collaborates with several other colleges in the surrounding municipalities to deliver the APICS message and provide APICS education.

The Shoreline Chapter is proud to support the community by adopting a section of county road within our chapter and sponsoring cleanup events each spring and fall with help from professional members and local students.

The Chapter has been honored to be awarded with the APICS Platinum rating, without interruption, since 2000. This is the 15th year in a row that the Chapter has achieved the highest level of recognition a Chapter can achieve – through a Chapter Management Awards Program called Chapter Benchmarking and Reporting (CBAR) Program.

The CBAR Program encourages innovation and strong organizational management practices. To celebrate the Shoreline Chapter’s 25 year milestone, The Shoreline Chapter is hosting a special dinner meeting being held at the Town and Country Golf Club in Sheboygan on May 19, 2015.

The guest speaker will be Sharon Rice, Vice President; Strategy of APICS. This event is open to the public with advance registration. To register, contact Rhonda Shermeister at Rhonda.Shermeister@sargento.com .
